James Nance Woods

  • Upland woods characterized by red and black oaks

  • Forest floor is carpeted by spring wildflowers in April & May.

  • A small pond provides a home to many amphibians.

This 14-acre upland woods west of Neoga, was donated to GPF in 2004 by Jean Nance. Jean was one of the early and active members of GPF. The woods are characterized by red and black oaks as well as a nice showing of spring wildflowers.

In Neoga, west on 6th St. which curves left and becomes Trowbridge Road. Follow Trowbridge Road (which becomes 1000N and later 700N) for 2.2 miles to 3425E (Shelby Co. Rd). Continue North on 3425E for .9 miles past two "S" curves to the woods on the right.  Park along the road.
