Native Plant Sale Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers with a willingness to work hard and get their hands dirty are needed—no experience necessary. Plants are set to be delivered April 1, and we’ll gather on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM—April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7 in the Natural Resources Study Annex (NRSA) Greenhouse, 1910 S. Griffith Dr., Champaign . This greenhouse is south of St. Mary’s Road and west of First Street to the southwest of Assembly Hall (map).
On Friday May 8, GPF needs volunteers to help load, haul, and unload plants. We'll work from 4 to 6 PM meeting first at the NRSA greenhouse. A small crew (2-3 people) will be needed at Lincoln Square to set up tables and arrange the space. If you have a truck and a strong back (or just a truck), then you're especially needed! RSVP to Rob robert_l_stanton [at] yahoo [dot] com or Diane dianeed [at] sbcglobal [dot] net if you can help.
The sale runs from 8 AM to 1 PM inside Lincoln Square. We'll need 4-5 people over a couple of shifts to help customers pick out plants, keep tables tidy, and staple boxes. This is the fun part--sending native plants to loving homes! RSVP to Jamie james.ellis72 [at] gmail [dot] com if you can help.
A very important task on sale day. We need six people committed to keeping track of the money. Two people on an early shift and two on a late shift. Two other volunteers are needed to make one or two bank deposit trips as needed. RSVP to Ed Wilhite (dianeed [at] sbcglobal [dot] net) if you can help.
